The Computer Engineering Department was established in 2012 and welcomed its students in the academic year (2013-2014) to keep up with the rapid developments in the fields of computer technology, information, software, computer networks, and the internet, and the significant advances in software industries associated with information technology, which have become prominent features in the economies of countries. The department accepts graduates from the preparatory scientific branch (biological and applied) and graduates from industrial preparatory schools and technical institutes in relevant technical disciplines. The duration of study is four years, and the language of instruction is English. After graduation, students receive a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering equivalent to the degrees awarded in the same specialty from similar governmental colleges. The department is subject to a twinning system with the Middle Technical University in the relevant discipline and has achieved advanced positions in previous years in scientific competence examinations..
